D.O.T.S....the way we were

One of my friends recently found a Close To My Heart catalog...or rather a DOTS catalog that, of course, she knew I would want to see!

It's a 1998-1999 Catalog.
And let me say, we've come a long way!

Wood block stamps are pricey.  This clock stamp is $9.50!
That's about the price of a B size stamp now a days!  And a B size stamp set is usually 4-5 images!

Back then...the greatest scrapbooking tool was decorative scissors.
I have a whole stash that I rarely use.

Back when Sponge Daubers were NEW!
These are a staple and still one of my favorite items!

The color palette

Some things are perfect from the beginning...like outdoor denim, Indian Corn Blue, Autumn Terracotta, Smokey Plum.  Still part of the exclusive color palette.

Olive, Cranberry, Goldrush, Hollyhock are also still around!

And Bonding Memories glue...

Betty Johnson is not a consultant anymore...I checked.
The catalog was expensive!  $7.95 back then...it's only $3.95 now.

And hostess rewards have improved!  You can now get $25 in free products when you get to a $150 show. Back then...$250 got you a $20 reward

The best part!?  This image looked familiar - I had picked this stamp up several months ago at a garage sale for just $1.50.  Classic design...it's a DOTS stamp!

New Alcohol Markers!!

Got some new markers today!  The amazing new alcohol markers from Close To My Heart!  So I had to make some cards of course.  These are all the cutie 3x3 variety.  Perfect to tuck into a lunch box or briefcase of someone you love.  Unfortunately my husband sees everything I make because I sit 5 feet from him when I'm crafting and I show him everything.  (He humors me and oohs and ahhs about all of it).

This one was made with the September stamp of the month called Fall Favorites. I used olive & autumn terracotta inks.

Being a sucker for ANYTHING with bee's on it!  The background stamp is a retired stamp.  It's actually a Halloween stamp from last year called Wicked.  I didn't buy it for the witch or the halloween sentiment.  I had to have it for all the wrong reasons - the honeycomb background!  The Just Beecause is the cute Pun Fun stamp set.  I colored the whole thing with honey ink and then colored the rest with black ink.  The background stamp is with Slate ink.

This one is with the retired Dotty for You paper as the background.  And the Bee Happy stamp.  A funny tidbit - this was my first Close To My Heart stamp!  My mom bought it for me!  Because I'm a BEE!  Since napping is my other favorite hobby, this stamp is perfect!

What is a Cricut?

If you've recently been to one of my home gatherings or classes, you've heard me talk about the Cricut.  But the reality is, you've got to see this baby in action!

This is a video showing you what a Cricut is (and the lady has a fun accent!)

As she mentions in the video, there are other cartridges that you can purchase and that's where Close To My Heart comes into the picture.  Close To My Heart has two cartridges, the Cricut Art Philosophy and the Cricut Artiste collection, which is our newest collection.

With 700 images on each cartridge, featuring themed projects, interactive cards, awards and more.  From robots and spooks to weddings and Valentines, your cupcake liners, invitations, and party favors will coordinate and quickly come together for any celebration.  Cutting and assembling the many 3D items in a snap using the project reference chart and separate step-by-step assembly book.

Scattered throughout the Idea Book are numerous My Acrylix stamp images outlined in red.  This means that stamp has a corresponding shape on the Art Philosophy or Artise cartridge.  Simply use the correct cartridge to cut the matching shape using the setting indicated on the stamp’s carrier sheet, and then stamp your image on the shape.

When you purchase either cartridge, you’ll get the cartridge plus three new coordinating, D-size stamp sets and three 12”x9” sheets of coordinating Dimensional Elements shapes for maximum mixing, matching and wowing!

If you want to find out how to get either cartridge for half price - contact me today

To bring you comfort...

I really like sentiment stamps because they always say something more eloquently then I will.  The Words of Comfort stamp is a lovely stamp set and a hand made card is a little something extra for someone in need.  I made this card with Flirty paper, cutting out one of the roses and making it into an embellishment.  And I love how one of the B&T papers mimics the colorful flower with a watermark look.  I added a little sparkle to the center of the flower and the bottom right corner with clear sparkles.
